“I long for the day when gays and lesbians can live free from violence and discrimination”. So said an author in an online article I was reading the other day.
I wrote back and said that I long for the day when:
All people live free from coercion.
Babies aren’t killed in the womb.
Religions never force other people to worship their gods.
Communists don’t force people to join their communes.
Liberals make their welfare state voluntary.
Businesses don’t cheat their customers and employees, and never go to the government looking for favors.
Governments always defend rights instead of infringing them.
Everybody obeys at least the last six of the Ten Commandments.
This resulted in a predictable storm of outrage from other readers.
It would seem we all have our own favorite form of tyranny that we will defend to the death. It’s everybody else’s form that we are opposed to.

I think these desires sound very reasonable. Why don’t we have a political party that espouses them? I would join.
